HC stays CAT order on former DGP Virk
Chandigarh, Apr 25 (UNI) The Punjab and Haryana High Court today stayed till further order the operation of the order of Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT), Chandigarh of April four.
As per the CAT order, the suspension of former Punjab Police chief S S Virk by the Punjab Government had been revoked.
The stay on this order was given by a Division Bench of Justice Hemant Gupta and Justice Mohinder Pal.
The CAT order had been challenged by the State Government in the High Court.
Mr Virk is a senior IPS officer of Maharashtra cadre who had been on deputation with the Punjab Government for a number of years now and was DGP under Amarinder Singh led Congress regime.
The bench has fixed May 21 as the next date of hearing.
