Gurgaon police to have single window public grievance system
Chandigarh, Apr 25 (UNI) The Haryana government today decided to introduce a single window system in Gurgaon to enable the public to get police-related information, such as enquiries for passport, actions taken on their complaints and registration of FIRs on phone.
Informing this here, a spokesman of the Police Department said Community Policing Secretariat in Gurgaon had started functioning from today and feedback on police functioning could be given to the in-charge of the Secretariat on phone number 0124-2221559.
Meetings with the various Resident Welfare Associations were being organised to promote community policing on large scale so as to improve the functioning of the police and redress shortcomings by getting vital feedback from the public.
He urged the people to express their opinion without any hesitation on subjects related to policing in Gurgaon and suggest the way out to bring about quality improvement in the police functioning.
Community policing would help in judging the performance of Gurgaon police to find out the loopholes in the system and eradicate corruption, he added.
He pointed out that the work on Gurgaon Digital Trunking System was in full swing and likely to be functional in the next two months. The system would provide 30 phone lines on phone number 100, instead of existing only five parallel lines on this number.
The modern police control room was almost complete and was likely to be functional within next 15 days. In addition to it, tenders had been invited from Haryana Electronecs Development Corporation to install close circuit TV cameras for stemming offences in the city.
The number of police stations had also been increased from nine to 23 in Gurgaon and as many as 15 more PCR vehicles would be provided to the police in addition to 40 such vehicles already provided by the state government to strengthen its PCR network, he added.
