Fresh outbreak of Bird Flu in West Tripura

New Delhi, Apr 25 (UNI) The Department of Animal Husbandry, Dairying and Fisheries of Tripura Government has notified fresh outbreak of Bird Flu (Avian Influenza) in poultry in West Tripura district on April 21.

According to an official release here today, Bird Flu was detected in the Mohanpur block of village Hatearra.

The State Government has launched a containment operation and Central RRT is assisting the State authorities. Active House-to-house surveillance has begun. A population of 476 has been already covered.

Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has supplied additional quantities including 10,000 capsules of Tamiflu, 500 N-95 masks and 5000 Triple layered masks.

There was no suspect case of human avian influenza.

Earlier, the authorities had notified the outbreak in District Dhalai on April 7.

Active house-to-house surveillance had already been completed in West Bengal.

However, in the Nadia district, the authorities again notified the outbreak of the disease on April 4.

Active house-to-house surveillance had been completed.

The situation was being monitored.
