Five militants shot dead

Imphal, Apr 25: Five militants have been shot dead so far in separate encounters with troops and police during the last 24 hours.

Police said the troops of 21 Assam Rifles gunned down two ultras at Khoirupat near Wabagai farm in Thoubal district today.

The deceased have been identified.

In another incident three suspected militants were gunned down by police commandos last night at Langol Games Village here.

Police said three pistols were recovered from the three persons, who were yet to be identified. The bodies were kept at RIMS morgue for postmortem.

Meanwhile, police nabbed a People's Liberation Army (PLA) cadre yesterday and recovered one nine mm pistol loaded with nine live rounds of ammunition
