Chandigarh, Apr 25 (UNI) The experts of Farm Energy and Machinery Department of Chaudhry Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University (CCSHAU), Hisar appealed to the farmers to adopt the precautionary measures to save their crops from fire accidents during the ongoing harvesting season.
They said that in these days many such accidents had occurred as a result farmers had to suffer huge losses. By adopting preventive measures and necessary precautions, the precious crops could be saved.
According to experts, generally tractor based thrashers had been used for thrashing the crops. They advised the farmers not to collect their harvested wheat crop below the high tension wires. Similarly, harvested crops should not be near the railway tracks as rail engines could be a cause of fire.

They said that besides, getting fodder for animals, left foodgrain could also be collected with the straw riper.
The experts had advised not to smoke bidi, cigarettes and hukka near the harvested crops. They urged the farmers to ensure that the crops were completely dry before the thrashing process as wet crop could also be the cause of short-circuit.
