BMC seizes 4,500 kgs of plastic bags

Mumbai, Apr 25 (UNI) The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation has collected more than 4,500 kgs of polythene bags and Rs 4.5 lakh in fines, in raids carried out by the Corporation in all the 24 civic wards this month.

According to a release issued by the Corporation, BMC officials carried out raids on wholesale and retail shops and seized the polythene bags, that have been banned.

In a raid conducted on a godown at Bhandup in the eastern suburb, 2,000 kgs of plastic bags were seized by the anti-plastic squad of the BMC, the release added.
