Army jawan commits suicide
Gangtok, Apr 25 (UNI) An army jawan posted in Sikkim allegedly committed suicide yesterday over leave permission issue.
Officials today said Sepoy Nagraj of the 6th Maratha unit had completed a military course at the Army Headquarters in Gangtok and returned to his unit at Lachung, North Sikkim yesterday.
On his way back the jawan went to relieve himself at Bakthang forest near Gangtok. When he failed to turn up after several minutes, his friends went to search him and found that Nagraj had allegedly committed suicide, police said.
It is learnt that the jawan wanted to avail leave to visit his ailing mother in Karnataka and for this he had been advised to obtain permission from his Lachung unit. But before reaching Lachung he killed himself by hanging in Gangtok itself.
