AP Govt asks DMHOs to stop administering measles vaccine
Hyderabad, Apr 25 (UNI) The Andhra Pradesh Government has asked all the District Medical and Health Officers (DMHOs), private hospitals and nursing homes to stop administering measles vaccine till further orders in the wake of the death of four children in Tamil Nadu after being administered the vaccine, manufactured by the city-based Human Biologicals Institute.
Family Welfare Commissioner Anil Punetha, in a statement here, said the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare directed the Government over phone not to use the measles vaccine, manufactured by the Institute.
However, the vaccination for other vaccine preventable diseases would be carried out as usual in the routine immunisation programme, the release added.
