Tibetans take out procession in Pondy
Puducherry, Apr 24 (UNI) As many as 80 Tibetan monks took out a peace march through the main thoroughfares of Puducherry this evening to press their demands.
The march commenced at the Kamaraj statue junction and when it reached the beach road, the monks lit candles and sat on a dharna for some time. Police had denied permission to the monks to sit on a dharna through the night.
They were demanding the immediate despatch of an international fact-finding delegation to Tibet, allow free press to cover in entire Tibet, end the brutal killings in the region and release those arrested and imprisoned in Tibet, among other things.
Seventy Tibetan monks, members of the Tibetan Solidarity Committee, Mundgod, arrived here today for the march and were joined by ten monks residing in Puducherry and Auroville.
