Subsidised red gram, Palmolein distribution from Jun 1: YSR
Hyderabad, Apr 24 (UNI) Announcing a hike in vegetable seed subsidy from Rs 600 to Rs 1,200 per acre, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekharaa Reddy today said red gram at Rs 30 per kg and palmolein oil at Rs 45 litre would be given to all the white cardholders along with Rs two Kg rice through Fair Price Shops from June 1.
Reviewing the price situation here with the officials concerned, Dr Reddy directed them to closely monitor the rise in prices of oils, pulses and vegetables and take timely measures to contain them.
Asking officials of the Horticulture Department to take steps to increase the cultivation of vegetables with a scientific approach, he directed them to encourage farmers to take up Green House cultivation under horticulture for increasing vegetable cultivation in a big way.
The State Government would bear 15 per cent subsidy additionally for the purpose, he added.
Presently, the State and the Centre together were providing 50 per cent of the cost as subsidy for green houses with the farmer bearing the balance cost, an official release here said.
