Students ransack NIRTAR
Bhubaneswar, Apr 24 (UNI) Peeved over certain remarks of the Director, the students of National Institute of Rehabilitation, Research and Training (NIRTAR) at Olatpur, about 25 km from here, today went on a rampage, ransacking the campus.
The students alleged that when they met the Director to lodge their complaints, he misbehaved with them resulting in tension on the institute campus.
NIRTAR Director Bhuban Mohan Pradhan, however, denied that he had made any remarks against the students.
Sources said some local people also joined the students and ransacked the campus.
Cuttack Rural Superintendent of Police A N Sinha rushed to the institute with two platoons of force and brought the situation under control.
Police said at least ten students, three workers and a relative of a patient were injured in the incident.
The situation in the campus was still tense.
Police had received FIR from both students and NIRTAR management.
No arrest had been made so far in connection with the incident.
The Management has cancelled the examination, scheduled to commence from tomorrow following the unruly scenes.
