Road map for development in Assam
Guwahati, Apr 24 (UNI) Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi today announced a long road map to develop key sectors ranging from education to agriculture in the next decade.
Addressing a press conference here, Mr Gogoi said the road map to be implemented within the next ten years would accord highest priority in the field of education and creating employment opportunities.
An international-standard university would be set up near Guwahati and the government was in process of acquiring a 700 acre of land, he said.
The other focus areas of the action plan would be agriculture, irrigation and power, the Chief Minister said.
Setting up of food processing units would be the priority, while effort would be made to hasten the commissioning of the power projects to ease the current power crisis in the state, Mr Gogoi added.
He also said the government had decided to set up both rural and urban infrastructure development authorities to improve connectivity in the next ten years.
