Over 52 candidates filed nominations for 2nd phase poll
Bangalore, Apr 24 (UNI) As many as 52 candidates including Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)'s Chief Ministerial candidate B S Yeddyurappa today filed their nominations for the second phase election to the Karnataka Legislative Assembly scheduled for May 16.
According to official sources Mr Yeddyurappa (Shikaripur), member of the dissolved assembly Renukacharya (Honnali) were among the 52 candidates who have filed their nominations on the third day of the filing of nominations.
While Seven nominations each in Shimoga and Chitradurga were filed, five nominations were filed in Bellary District, Dakshina Kannada (5), Uttara Kannada Districts 3.
Altogether so far, since opening of the nominations on April 22, 119 nominations have been received for 66 assembly seats which goes to poll in second phase.
The last date for filing nominations for the second phase is April 29 and scrutiny would be taken up the following day.
The last date for withdrawal of nominations is May 2.
Ten districts including Raichur, Koppal, Uttara Kannada, Bellary, Chitradurga, Davanagere, Shimoga, Udupi, Chickmagalur and Dakshina Kannada goes for second phase elections for 66 assembly seats.
The notification for the third phase elections for the remaining 69 Assembly seats in eight northern Karnataka Districts will be issued on April 26.
