One held with over 6000 kg expired vegetable ghee
Jalandhar, Apr 24 (UNI) Punjab Police today arrested a person and seized nearly 6075 kg of expired vegetable ghee from his shop at Saidan Gate market here.
Superintendent of Police SK Kalia said on prior information, police party raided a shop owned by Balwinder Kumar and seized nearly 6075 kg of expired vegetable ghee packed in 405 tins of 15 kg each.
He said the offender used to sell the expired vegetable ghee by changing the expiry date and also by replacing the lables with the lables of the different brands available in the market.
Police also seized printed lables of different brands and empty tins from the shop, he said, adding that Food and Civil Supply Department was also informed regarding the seizure.
The culprit was booked under section 420 of the IPC and other relevant sections applicable under Essential Commodity Act, he said.
