Mah CM proposes penalty for flats in forest area
Mumbai, Apr 24 (UNI) In a relief to lakhs of flat owners in Mulund, Borivali and Thane areas, whose buildings were built on private forest land, Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh today said the government has taken a decision that all encroachments would be regularised by charging them a penalty.
Making a statement on the issue in the state assembly, raised by Leader of the Opposition Ramdas Kadam, Mr Deshmukh said the state government would file an affidavit in the Supreme Court on the issue.
After its approval, the order would be implemented.
The Bombay High Court last month had ordered halt on construction activity on forest land.
