Jeevan Reddy to resign before filing nomination
Hyderabad, Apr 24 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Roads and Buildings Minister T Jeevan Reddy today said he would quit the ministerial post before filing his nomination for the Karimnagar Lok Sabha seat in the byelection to be held on May 29.
''I have decided to resign from my post before filing nomination on moral grounds. I do not want to give a chance to opposition parties to say that I will influence the voters if I continue as a minister while contesting the election,'' he told reporters at the Gandhi Bhavan here.
Asked when he would quit the post, he said he would consult Chief Minister Y S Rajashekhara Reddy and take a decision before filing the nomination papers.
The Congress has fielded Jeevan Reddy from Karimnagar Lok Sabha constituency against TRS President K Chandrasekara Rao, who resigned from the Lok Sabha in protest against the inordinate delay in formation of separate Telangana.
