Indian exports contribute 2% in world market
Vijayawada, Apr 24 (UNI) The Handicrafts Regional Director (Southern region) A R Chaudhri today said the share of countrys exports in the world market for handicrafts is only two per cent, at Rs 17,452 crore, whereas China's share stood at 30 per cent.
Speaking at the one-day workshop, organised by Handicrafts Artisans Welfare Association, Warangal here, he said there was lot of scope for export of Andhra Pradesh crafts and the products produced in China were flooded in the world market.
Mr Chaudhri said a majority of handicrafts are produced and exported from Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Rajasthan, Jammu and Kashmir. He stressed that it is time for the South to change the mind set and produce export quality products.
The workshop was organised to create awareness among the handicraft artisans, manufacturers and SHGs on how to export their products and other procedures. It would help artisans to grow in confidence and enter into export activity.
