Hindustan Zinc Q4 net up 36.68%

New Delhi, Apr 24 (UNI) Country's top zinc producer Hindustan Zinc Ltd (HZL) today said its net profit has increased 36.68 per cent to Rs 1,278 crore for the quarter ended March 31, 2008 as compared to Rs 935 crore for the same quarter a year ago.

Its total income has also hiked 23.72 per cent to Rs 2,592 crore for Q4 FY08 as against Rs 2,095 crore for the same period a year ago.

HZL's net profit for FY08 stood at Rs 4,396 crore as compared to Rs 4,442 crore for the year ended March 31, 2007, dipping one per cent.

Its total income also decreased marginally to Rs 8,729 crore for FY08 from Rs 8,791 crore a year ago.

It has recommended final dividend at 25 per cent for the year 2007-2008.

The company has also announced its plans to expand its total zinc-lead capacity to 10,65,000 tonnes per annum with an investment of Rs 3,600 crore.
