Former Rajya Sabha MP dead of illness
Bhubaneswar, Apr 24 (UNI) Former Rajya Sabha member Jagdish Prasad Jani died following protracted illness at Dalapada in Phulbani district.
He was 86.
Family sources said yesterday Mr Jani had been ill for the past three years.
A powerful Congress leader of the area, Mr Jani started his political career as ward member.
He was also served as Sarpanch before being elected to the state Assembly from Phulbani seat.
Mr Jani was the Rajya Sabha member for two terms between 1980 to 1992.
His body was cremated today.
He is survived by wife, two sons and three daughters.
