Fire in former Chief Minister Mufti's house in Kashmir

Srinagar Apr 24 (UNI) A fire broke out in the residence of former Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed at Gupkar while three houses and other structures were gutted elsewhere in the Valley, official sources said today.

They said the fire broke out in Mr Mufti's residence at heavily-guarded Gupkar, damaging a television set, Persian carpets and thermo-cot.

However, the fire was brought under control before it could spread to other rooms.

Ruling out any sabotage, the sources said the fire was caused due to electric shot circuit. No one was injured in the incident.

They said a fire broke out in the upper storey of one Ghulam Rasool Dar's house at Kursoo Rajbagh and spread to the adjacent house.

In another fire incident, a house was damaged at Thandipora, Kralpora in the frontier district of Kupwara.
