Curfew withdrawn, Chopda returns to normalcy
Jalgaon, Maharashtra, Apr 24: Curfew was today withdrawn from Chopda tehsil of Jalgaon district as no untoward incident was reported in the last 24 hours.
Additional SP Dilip Sawant told UNI, ''Life is slowly returning to normalcy and the situation is peaceful.'' Meanwhile, Dist Magistrate Ganesh Patil has ordered a magisterial inquiry into the police firing that killed two persons.
The trouble sparked off on April 22 night when people from a community objected to a particular song being played in a marriage party in Lohiyanagar area of the tehsil.
The police rushed to the spot to control the situation but after lathicharge and teargas proved ineffective, they resorted to firing to control the rampaging mobs.
Thirty-four people were arrested in connection with the incident so far, police said.
