Congress' panchayat election candidate found dead
Cooch Behar, Apr 24 (UNI) Hussain Ali, a Congress candidate from Toofanganj II under Barokodali 2 for the coming Panchayat election, was found dead this morning.
District Congress working president Biren Kundu alleged that it was the handiwork of the CPI(M).
CPI(M) local leader and gram panchayat pradhan Subodh Chandra Sarkar, however, said there was no enmity between them and hence the question of murdering Ali did not arise.
He said the Congress was spreading rumour only to gain political mileage and tarnish the party's image before the election.
Meanwhile, Superintendent of Police Anil Kumar said the body had been sent for a post-mortem.
