Audio release of Kamal's new magnum opus
Chennai, Apr 24 (UNI) After the hype over his contemporary icon in Tamil cinema, it is now turn of legendary actor Kamal Haasan to build up great expectations for his new film 'Dasavatharam,' in which he plays ten roles in one go, a record in world cinema.
After two years of its making, the audio of 'Dasavatharam' is all set to be released by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi tomorrow with another legend in the world cinema Jackie Chan receiving the first copy.
The star-studded function, to be presided over by Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan, Malayalam superstar Mammooty and Tamil superstar of this generation Vijay, will take place at the Nehru Indoor Stadium in the evening.
Sony Music Company holds the audio rights and for the first-time in the history of Tamil cinema, one lakh CDs would be released into the market, according to producers of the film.
Normally, only 10,000 copies were released first, film's PRO Johnson told UNI.
The film, budgeted at about Rs 200 crore, is expected to be released in May. However, the exact date has not been finalised yet, Mr Johnson said.
Kamal, who is know for his extraordinary acting skills and variety in his repertoire, also appears as a 80-year-old woman, US President George Bush, a Taliban cadre, a Sikh and a 12th century Vaishnava Saint Ramanujachar among his ten roles in the film.
Scripted by Kamal himself, the film was directed by K S Ravikumar, who had directed a few earlier hits of Kamal.
After eight roles played by former British and Hollywood actor Alec Guinnes and nine by late Tamil thespian Shivaji Ganesan, Kamals ten roles would be the maximum number of roles played in a single film by any actor.
