All production units of Railways awarded ISO certification

New Delhi, Apr 24 (UNI) In a major achievement for Indian Railways, all its six production units, including Rail Coach Factory, Kapurthala and Integral Coach Factory, Chennai have been awarded ISO certification 9001 for Quality Management System and ISO 14001 for Environmental Management System.

In a written reply in the Lok Sabha, Minister of State for Railways R Velu said the other four units, which have been awarded ISO certification, are Diesel Locomotive Works, Varanasi; Rail Wheel Factory, Yelkhana, Bangalore;Chittaranjan Locomotive Works, Chittaranjan and Diesel Loco Modernisation Works, Patiala.

Meanwhile, a Railway Ministry official said all the production units exceeded their production targets during the first eleven months of the fiscal 2007-08.

CLW produced 176 electric engines against the target of 176 units and DLW produced 205 diesel locomotives against the target of 199 units during April 2007- February 2008.

Rail Coach Factory (RCF) built 1335 coaches exceeding the target by 27 coaches while Integral Coach Factory (ICF) produced 1131 coaches against the target of 1131 coaches during the same period.

Rail Wheel Factory (RWF) produced 132324 wheels and 46282 axles against the target of 118276 wheels and 46262 axles during the period.
