Aligarh Muslim univ admission process begins at 4 new centres
Aligarh, Apr 24 (UNI) For the first time, the entrance examination of the Aligarh Muslim University would be held in four other states, where centres for the same have been setup and the admission process started.
Aligarh Muslim University Vice-Chancellor (VC) P K Abdul addressed newspersons in this regard today.
The Muslim community was opposed to the setup of entrance examination centres in other states.
The admission forms for MBBS, BDS, BTech/BMarc, Class XI and Diploma Engineering have been made available at the new centres in Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh), Pune (Maharashtra), Kolkata (West Bengal) and Kalikat (Kerala), the VC informed.
Clarifying the decision, he said even Barruddin Taiyyabji committee in 1988, Mumtaz Ahmad committee in 2002 and Saleemuddin committee in 2005 had proposed that centres should also be opened in other states for joint entrance examination.
The reports got an approval on April 25, 2005 and that also talked of 50 per cent reservation to Muslims.
