Air-India announces concession for airlifting cherries

Srinagar, Apr 24: The Air India has offered freight concession for transportation of cherries from here to different parts of the country from May 1, official spokesman said today.

He said the Air India has agreed to lift a minimum of 100 kg to 1000 kg of cherries in each flight operating from here to Mumbai, Chennai, Bangalore and Kolkatta.

He said Director, Horticulture Planning and Marketing (HPM) department has appealed to the cherry and fruit growers, besides traders, to avail the opportunity and contact the Marketing Manager of Air India, here.

The spokesman said HPM can also be contacted for the purpose.

The Railway minister has also agreed to help transportation of the cherries from Jammu to Mumbai in special coaches.
