Action against authorities responsible for lapse of scholarship:CM
Patna, Apr 24 (UNI) Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today said stern action would be taken against the authorities responsible for the lapse of scholarship to be given by the Centre to the students of minority community.
Mr Kumar told reporters here that directive had been issued to Secretary of the department for Minority Affairs to fix the responsibility against the erring authorities for the lapse of the scholarship for the minority students.
''A thorough probe would be carried out to ascertain the circumstances leading to holding up of the applications of the students for scholarship in the concerned department of the state government and its non-submission to the Centre in time,'' he added.
He said the Bihar government would request the Centre to ensure that the funds meant for scholarship be made available to the state government again in the interests of the students.
Earlier, the Bihar School Examination Board handed over the cheque of Rs five crore to the Chief Minister at his official residence for providing relief to the victims of flood and other natural calamities.
