4 killed, 2 injured in lightning
Davanagere, Karnataka, Apr 24 (UNI) Four people, including a mother and her son, were killed on the spot and two sustained burn injuries when lightning struck them at Singrahalli, about 15 km from here, today.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Lingareddy told UNI that the victims, while working in a sugarcane field, were taking shelter under a tree due to heavy wind, when the accident occurred.
The deceased were identified as Meenakshamma (30) her son Sudhakar (ten), Sachappa (50) and Indiramma (30).
The injured were admitted to government hospital here and their condition was stated to be out of danger.
Unseasonal rain was lashing the city since morning.
