Zensar Tech to launch M-Com solutions for grocery stores

Mumbai, Apr 23 (UNI) RPG Group promoted IT software solution company Zensar Technologies is all set to launch Mobile-Commerce (M-Com) solutions for the retail market, especially for local 'kirana' (grocery) stores, by the end of current fiscal, according to a top company official.

The company has already acquired the intellectual property rights to leverage the idea of M-Com in the field of retail segment, Zensar Head (Retail&Distribution Solution) Shiva Rangaswamy told a visiting UNI correspondent in Pune.

He said ''The product will be ready by the end of this year and will be launched somewhere in the beginning of the fourth quarter of the financial year 2008-09.'' The mobile-phone will be used at a fundamental level to provide value added services to the retial customers, Mr Rangaswamy said, adding, ''we will cater this solution to the kirana stores, which have a huge potential in India.'' He said there are over ten million kirana stores that provide retail facility to several millions of customers.

''The new value added service, we are planning, is 'e-coupons' that can be given to their potential customers as a promotional offer via the mobile handset just like a short messaging service (SMS),'' Mr Rangaswamy said.

For the sucessful launch of the M-Comm value added servives, the company was also in talks with major telecom operators, including MTNL and BSNL, which had greater penetration in the Tier-II and lower cities of the country, he pointed out.

The company was also planning to launch the product in banking segment, where mobile banking would be the latest advent in the financial market, he added.
