"The US strongly believes in the independent judiciary and supports rule of law, vibrant civil society including media but the specifics are for the people of Pakistan and we do not interfere," the Daily Times quoted the envoy as saying. Kramer further said that he discussed the issue of "missing persons" with the leaders he met during his two-day visit to Pakistan. Addressing a press conference at a local hotel, Kramer said that the US supported the independence of judiciary, as it was key to democracy.
