Three members of a gang nabbed
Jalandhar, Apr 23 (UNI) Punjab Police today arrsted three members of a gang involved in selling properties of NRIs by preparing fake documents here.
In a press note issued here today, police said that the three persons identified as Kamal Kumar and Dinesh Kumar, both residents of the city and Manjit Singh of village Babeli in Hoshiarpur district were arrested from Deep Nagar locality in the Cantt area on prior information.
About the modus operandi of the gang, police said the accused first used to identify the properties of the NRIs and than after preparing fake documents, used to sell it off to some other persons.
Police also recovered stamps used in preparing fake documents from the possession of the accused. However gang leader Dildar Singh of Bhagpur, who was an accused in another case and another accomplice Kamal of Hoshiarpur were still at large.
A case under sections 420, 465, 468, 471 and 120-B of the IPC was registered against the fraudsters and efforts were on to nab the absconding culprits, police added.
