Suicide attack kills ten police officers in Afgahnistan

Kandahar, Apr 23 : In Afghainstan, ten police officers were killed and as many were injured in three separate incidents on Wednesday.

A suicide bomber attacked a police convoy in southern Helmand province, leaving two officers dead and three others injured, said District Police chief Khairudin Shuhja, who escaped unhurt in the attack. The suicide bomber blew himself up as soon as cops opened fire when he approached the vehicle, said Shuhja.

In another incident, Taliban militants attacked a police border post in eastern Kunar province. Five cops killed and seven injured in the attack.

In the third incident, a border police patrol in northwestern Badghis province hit a mine, which left five officers dead and seven others wounded.

Afghan police comes under regular attack by Taliban militants.

Taliban mostly use suicide bombers in their fight against Afghan and foreign troops in the country.

According to official sources, over 900 policemen were killed in insurgency-related violence last year.
