Stone like object from outter space falls in Punjab town

Sangrur, Apr 23 (UNI) A 'suspicious' looking green coloured object fell from the open sky into an agricultural field on Jawanda road, four kms from the sub divisional town of Sunam in the wee hours today, official sources here confirmed.

The stone like, rough surfaced object which is now in the custody of the police weighed 245 grams and is nine cms in length and three cms in breadth. The object looks akin to the stones that were brought from the moon by the numerious Apollo missions. The only difference being that this one is green in colour and not brown as was the case with the moon stones.

The object fell in a field owned by farmer Harjinder Singh at around 0400 hours. The farmer was irrigating his chilly fields when he saw a bright glow of light coming down from the sky.

The farmer said that as the object approached the ground, the light got dim and when it hit the earths surface the light disappeared. Admitting that he got scared when he saw the bright light approaching him, the farmer said that he immediately informed a friend and did not go to the spot where the object had fallen.

Even when the farmer and his friend did go near the object, they did not dare to touch it. The police was informed and Sunam police station incharge, Inspector Darshan Singh wrapped a piece of paper around the object and took it to the police station.

The Inspector said that the concerened authorities including the Geological Survey of India (GSI) had been informed on the matter.

The spot where the object fell has been 'sealed' as per the instructions of the GSI.

A 'suspicious' looking object had fallen in the fields near Hothian village in the district in August last year. However the object that fell today was heavier and green in colour while the one that fell last year was white in colour.
