Silver improves, Gold steady

Mumbai, Apr 23: The value of silver improved by Rs 125 per kg on fresh buying support, while gold remained steady on moderate demand in the opening session, traders at the Bombay Bullion Association (BBA) said. Similarly, in international market also silver improved following rising oil prices while gold remained steady.

Gold recorded at USD 920.10/921.10 an ounce, hardly changed from USD 920.65/922.05 an ounce late in New York yesterday, while silver edged up to USD 17.72/17.78 an ounce from USD 17.64/17.73 an ounce, as per Singapore market report said. Following were the opening rates of spot silver and gold in the bullion market here today: Silver (per kg) 999 fineness grade: Rs 23,720 Gold (per 10 gm) 99.5 purity standard mint: Rs 11,900 99.9 purity pure gold: Rs 11,955.
