Security forces kill Hizb commander, deputy commander of Baramulla

Srinagar Apr 23 : Jammu and Kashmir Police and Indian Army on Wednesday gunned down two top militants of the banned Hizbul Mujahideen in a joint operation at Khawaja Bagh of Baramulla District.

SSP Baramulla Anand Jain said that acting on a tip off, the police in association with 46 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) launched a joint operation.

He further said that police and army zeroed on the target house. The cordon of the house was followed by a fierce encounter as the militants fired upon the search party.

Tanveer Ahmed Zargar alias Tana Khan and Imtiyaz Khan alias Nayeem both residents of Baramulla were killed in this encounter. Tanveer was functioning as District commander of Hizb ul Mujahideen and Imtiyaz was his deputy. Two civilians were also injured, Jain added.
