Rosaiah refutes TDP leaders' allegations
Hyderabad, Apr 23 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Finance Minister K Rosaiah today strongly objected to the remarks made by Opposition Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leaders against the Planning Commission that the panel had complimented the State Government by yielding to 'undue influence.' Addressing the press here, he asked TDP President N Chandrababu Naidu to control his party leaders who made such indecent remarks against the prestigious body headed by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, who was not only a great economist but also a spotless leader and a sincere Deputy Chairman like Montek Singh Ahulwalia.
He demanded an apology to the Planning Commission from the TDP leaders for their remarks.
Mr Rosaiah alleged the TDP leaders were making baseless allegations against the Planning Commission as they could not digest the good image gained by the Congress Government which received compliments for its performance during the last four years.
He said the Planning Commission had approved the plan size based on the performance of the government.
He alleged the Commission, in its report in 2003, had made adverse remarks on the performance of the TDP Government saying though the government had provided sufficient funds for the agriculture sector, no steps had been taken for employment generation. Besides, migration from villages to towns had increased.
The Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee also refuted the charges of the TDP leaders against the Planning Commission and asked them to withdraw their remarks immediately.
