Radcliffe was only joking 'about fancying an Aussie girl'

Melbourne, Apr 23 : British actor Daniel Radcliffe insists that he was only joking when he said that he had been smitten by a mysterious Aussie girl.

The actor told the Daily Telegraph on a recent Australia visit, that during the 2006 AFI Awards in Melbourne he had met one particular Australian gal who had him hooked.

Unfortunately for him, she disappeared before he could go get her number.

The story got widespread coverage Down Under, with a number of girls claiming to be the one who Radcliffe had met.

Now Vanessa Davies, the London-based representative for the young star, has told the New York Daily News that Radcliffe was only jesting when he made the statement.

"(Radcliffe's comments) were meant in jest, but sadly been blown out of all proportion," News.com.au quoted her, as telling the paper.

Two leading contenders for the title of Radcliffe's mystery girl were Cassi McKay, a 20-year-old Sydney insurance worker, and 23-year old Melbourne based saxophonist Savannah Blount.
