Properties worth lakhs destroyed in fire

Nashik, Apr 23: In a fire at a paper godown in suburban part of the city at Nashik Road, properties worth lakhs of rupees were destroyed.

According to sources, fire broke out at one of the paper godowns of Jiyauddin Depot of Mr Takwala, last evening.

The fire spread to JK Fabrication, a nearby shop, and house of Mr Bashir Ali.

Properties including papers in the godown, some machineries in the fabrication shop and household furnitures collectively worth Rs five lakhs were destroyed in the mishap.

The extreme heat in the city may have led the paper stored in the godown, made by metal sheets, to catch fire, sources said.
