One drowned, another electrocuted, 7 injured in Kashmir
Srinagar, Apr 23 (UNI) Two people were killed and seven were wounded in separate incidents in the Kashmir valley overnight, official sources said today.
They said one Mohammad Rafiq Radwa died when he drowned in a power canal at Thune, Kangan. Efforts were on to extricate his body, they added.
In another incident, a Power Development Department(PDD) employee Mushtaq Ahmad Sheikh was killed after he got in contact with a live wire during repair of an electric line at village Litter in Pulwama.
A civilian Tariq Ahmad Ahanger was also injured in the incident, they said, adding that he was hopitalised.
A class 12th student Muneer Ahmad Beigh was injured in yet another incident, when he fell down from a bus at Nowgam crossing.
Hundreds of people were travelling on the roof of passenger vehicles in the valley because of shortage of transport facilities. The traffic department has also failed to take any action against the guilty drivers.
In another accident, five people, including a driver, were injured when a jeep in which they were travelling skidded off the road and fell into a deep gorge near Lassipora in the central Kashmir district of Badgam.
The injured were hospitalised.
