Govt to use Civil Defence for disaster management
New Delhi, Apr 23 (UNI) The Government has decided to involve Civil Defence volunteers in disaster management in addition to their traditional roles, Parliament was informed today.
Minister of State for Home Radhika V Selvi said in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha that the Government has issued necessary instructions to the State Governments/Union Territory administrations in this regard.
A Committee under Member, National Disaster Management Authority was set up to suggest measures to involve Civil Defence in disaster management.
The Report of the Committee was shared with State Governments which have agreed to the key recommendations on involving Civil Defence volunteers in disaster management, she said.
