Ewan McGregor confesses skin cancer scare

London, Apr 23 : Scottish actor Ewan McGregor has revealed that he was recently treated for skin cancer during a regular check-up.

The 37-year-old Star Wars actor said that he had discovered a cancerous mole just below his right eye.

"I went to have them checked - you have to be careful if you are pale-skinned," The Sun quoted him, as telling BBC news.

"So I went and saw a specialist who thought they should be removed and he was proved right. It's all good now.

"I wasn't worried - it was not that big a deal.

"But it was something that had to be looked at and kept in check," he added.

From the photos that had been taken of the star after the moles were removed, speculation started that he had had cosmetic surgery.

Among those in his family who suffered from the disease were his 64-year-old mom Carol, who survived an exhausting battle with breast cancer in 1993.

Next to be hit by it was his actress cousin Lou Gish, who passed away from the illness in 2006, when she was just 38-years-old.

In the 1980s his aunt Ann McKay was diagnosed with Hodgkin's disease.
