Centre sanctions 15 solar power plants for DHBVN

Chandigarh, Apr 23 (UNI) Union Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has sanctioned 15 Solar Power Plants of 1 Kilo Watt power each in 13 sub-divisions of Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN), Sirsa and in two sub-divisions of DHBVN Faridabad.

This step would help to meet the power requirements besides creating awareness among the masses about the generation of power through Solar Photovoltaic Technology, Haryana Deputy Chief Minister Chander Mohan said here today.

He said by using one such power plant, two T-5 Retrofit Tubelights of 28 watt, 10 tubelights of 20 watt CFLs and 6 ceiling fans could be operated in each sub-division office for four hours daily.

Mr Chander Mohan said the total cost of the project was about Rs 52.50 lakhs on which the MNRE would provide a subsidy of Rs 18.75 lakhs and the remaining amount of Rs 33.75 lakhs would be borne by the DHBVN, Sirsa and Faridabad districts and this project would be completed by October 31.

He said solar photovoltaic technology was being used for directly converting the solar energy into electrical energy by using "Solar Silicon Cells".
