Assembly bypoll prevents Punjab Cabinet from taking decisions

Chandigarh, Apr 23 (UNI) The Punjab Cabinet, which met here this evening, did not discuss the items listed on the agenda in view of the bypoll for the Amritsar South assembly constituency, scheduled for May 22.

An official spokesman said that the Cabinet members met under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal at the scheduled time (1800 hours) but the agenda did not come in for discussion in deference to the model code of conduct which was already in force since the announcement of the byelection.
