AP Gov gives away Godfrey Phillips Bravery Awards

Hyderabad, Apr 23 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Governor N D Tiwari today gave away the Godfrey Phillips Bravery Awards to recipients from the States of Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, West Bengal and Orissa.

In the category of Physical Bravery, S A Meharuddin from Andhra Pradesh and Kalyan Guha of West Bengal received a gold medal, Rs 50,000 in cash and a Merit Certificate each.

Monindra Roy from West Bengal won the Bronze Medal, Rs 30,000 in cash and Merit Certificate while Rajesh Gopalrao Khatavarkar from Karnataka got a Special Award, Rs 11,000 in cash and Merit Certificate, a press release here said.

In the category of Social Acts of Courage, Shyam Sunder Jal of Orissa won the Gold Medal, Rs 50,000 in cash and Merit Certificate.

Bipin Ganotra from West Bengal and Yogesh Srivastava from Andhra Pradesh received the Silver Medal, Rs 40,000 and a Merit Certificate each while Saahas from Karnataka won the Bronze Medal, Rs 30,000 in cash and Merit Certificate.

T N Snehan from Andhra Pradesh got the Special Award, Rs 11,000 in cash and a Merit Certificate.

Nabin Amanatya of Orissa got the Mind of Steel Award, Rs 50,000 in cash and a Merit Certificate.

Godfrey Phillips India President K K Modi said the objective of giving the awards was to encourage the culture of selfless action and empower the less fortunate helping them realise their true potential and make them contributing members of the society.
