AIMMK holds fast on Thevar statue issue

Madurai, Apr 23 (UNI) Activists of All India Moovendar Munnani Kazhagam (AIMMK) observed day-long to condemn the desecration of veteran freedom fighter and Mukkulathor Community icon Pasumpon Muthuramalinga Thevar's statue, near the Anna Bus Stand here today.

Led by party Founder President N Sethuraman, the volunteers were demanding full protection to Thevar statue and arrest of the 'real culprit' responsible for the incident.

They also demanded the Madurai Airport be named after Muthuramalinga Thevar.

In his address, Dr Sethuraman said the party would resort to a black flag agitation against Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi when he came to Madurai if the state government failed to implement their demand.
