Trucks kill more people on Delhi roads than Bluelines: Govt
New Delhi, Apr 22 (UNI) Trucks were responsible for more deaths on Delhi roads than the controversial Blueline buses, the government informed the Lok Sabha today.
Quoting official figures, the government said trucks were responsible for 305 deaths on National Capital's roads in 2007. The infamous Blueline buses killed 163 people in 2007.
Upto March 31 this year, trucks killed 62 people, while Bluelines killed 25, Union Minister of State for Home Radhika V Selvi informed the lower house in a written reply.
The number of females killed in road mishaps was less than the number of males killed, the figures said.
''With a view to enhancing penaltics provided for various traffic offences under the Motor Vehicle Act, the Motor Vehicle (amendment) Bill, 2007 was introduced in the Rajya Sabha in May, 2007,'' she added.
