TN Women's Commission to get more teeth

Chennai, Apr 22 (UNI) The Tamil Nadu Government today introduced a Bill in the State Assembly for conferring statutory powers to the State Commission for Women.

The Bill was tabled by Social Welfare Minister Poongothai.

According to the statement of objects and reasons, the Bill was tabled following the Government's decision to constitute the Commission, formed in March 1993, statutorily and also to give more powers to the Commission.
