Road blockade affects life in Manipur

Imphal, Apr 22: A 48-hour blockade on Imphal-Tiddim road, which began at 0500 hours yesterday, affected life here for the second day today.

The bandh was called by the Joint Action Committee(JAC) to protest the killing of one Sandham Raju, allegedly by 3 Assam Rifles personnel, at Salem Veng, Churachandpur district on January 21.

The JAC alleged that the youth was killed in a fake encounter and urged the state government to enquire into the incident.

The Imphal-Moirang road was deserted and all passenger services were off the road for the second day.

Police said no untoward incident had been reported so far.
