Prasad demands more compensation for fire victims in UP
Lucknow, Apr 22 (UNI) Newly appointed Union Minister of State for Steel Jitin Prasad has sent a letter to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati demanding adequate compensation for the family members affected in the fire incidents in Lakhimpur Kheri district recently.
Mr Prasad, in the letter yesterday, claimed that more than 956 houses were destroyed in the fire in over 100 villages in the district.
''Though the district administration has provided relief and compensation to the affected families, it is not enough to meet their daily needs'', he said adding that most of the families do not have a house to live and were facing hardship.
The Congress MP from Shahjahanpur said he himself had visited Mohammadi area of the district to assess the situation on April 20.
