HP to organise 'Naman 1857' programmes
Shimla, Apr 22 (UNI) The Himachal Pradesh Government will organise ''NAMAN 1857'' throughout the state to commemorate 150th anniversary of the First War of Independence, Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Sarveen Chaudhary today said.
''The Saheedi Kalash, containing sacred soil of all places connected with first war of independence, would be taken to all the important places of the state to enable the people to become a part of this historical event and recall the sacrifices made by freedom fighters and martyrs,'' she said in a release here.
Ms Chaudhary had received the ''Saheedi Kalash'' from Sushma Swaraj, senior BJP leader, on behalf of the state government in BJP's central office recently.
''The event would enable the youth to know about the heroic deeds of supreme sacrifices made by freedom fighters and inculcate a sense of patriotism in them,'' she said.
She said the state-wide functions would also help in strengthening the national integration as people would come to know how people from different parts of country with different religion, caste and creed joined hands to free India from the foreign yoke.
The role of freedom fighters from Himachal would be highlighted through audio, video and print media and members of the families of freedom fighters would be associated with these programmes to share their experiences, she added.
